● WordPress development

Custom WordPress themes, written from scratch.

We write every theme from an empty file. Your team keeps the editing screens it knows. Your visitors get pages that load in under a second.

Chapter 01Discovery

“Will you understand how my team works?”

WordPress developers who set the target before the build

Most WordPress quotes list pages. Ours opens with the numbers the finished site has to answer to.

We agree what your team edits each week, which fields it needs in the editor, and how fast every page has to load on a real handset. Those figures go into the brief before anyone opens a code editor. Miss one and the build is unfinished, whatever it looks like.

You deal with one developer from first call to handover, and the person who scopes your theme is the one who writes it.

Chapter 02Built from an empty file

“Will I be stuck with a page builder again?”

Bespoke WordPress development

Every theme we ship starts as an empty file. We draw the site first, then write the templates, block patterns, and editor controls to match, so the code carries your layout and nothing spare. That discipline is why our WordPress builds load in under a second on real phones over real connections.

You get custom post types for your services, projects, and locations, a Gutenberg screen trimmed to the fields your team uses, and markup written for the keywords each page targets. Every choice carries a reason you can question. We build on plain WordPress, so any developer can read the code after us.

Headless WordPress builds

Some sites need WordPress editing with more speed than PHP templates can serve. For those we keep WordPress as the content engine and build the front end in Next.js, the same stack behind this site. Your editors keep the screens they know. Your visitors get pages rendered at the edge, close to wherever they sit.

Headless earns its keep when you push heavy traffic, publish across markets, or hold hard Core Web Vitals targets. A ten-page brochure site does fine on a standard theme, and we say so in the scope. Selling a full catalogue? Our WooCommerce builds run on WordPress too, and a large store with a small team runs with less upkeep on Shopify.

Chapter 03Working together

“Who looks after it once it goes live?”

WordPress maintenance and support

A WordPress site needs tending: core releases, plugin updates, PHP versions, backups. Skip six months of that and you inherit a slow site and a security hole.

Our care plans handle it on a schedule. We update core and plugins on staging first, run the backups, watch uptime, and patch whatever the scanners flag. Small content changes are included, so a new team member or a new service page goes live within a day or two.

The same team scopes, writes, and maintains the build, so nothing gets translated twice. You own the code and the content, and you can move the site to any host you like. See our web development services for the stacks we build on beyond WordPress.

  1. Scope

We agree the pages, the fields your editors need, and the load budget each page must meet. You get a fixed quote and a launch date in writing.

  2. Scaffold

The theme starts as an empty file and staging goes up in week one. You click through the real thing on your own phone while it is still cheap to change.

  3. Build

We write the templates, custom post types, and editor fields, then hold every page to the load budget on real handsets and through the keyboard.

  4. Handover

Code, content, and hosting come to you, with a recording that walks your team through the editor. No theme licences left ticking.

Chapter 04Proof

“Will this actually pay off?”

WordPress website design and build in one engagement

A WordPress rebuild can wipe out years of search equity in a single switch. We map every URL on your current install first, redirect the pages that move, and carry over the titles already earning clicks.

Then we replace what costs you visitors: the purchased theme, the unsized images, and the plugins holding your pages over a second. The load budget agreed in chapter one is the number the finished build answers to.

WordPress questions, answered

Questions04 answered
How much does a custom WordPress website cost?

We quote a fixed figure before any work begins, scoped to the pages and features you need. Because we write the theme ourselves, you pay no theme or page-builder licences on top, and the quote holds from first call to launch.

How long does a WordPress build take?

Six weeks on average, from kickoff to launch. Week one covers scoping and sitemap, weeks two and three cover design, and the rest is build, content, and testing. You watch the site take shape on a staging link throughout.

Can you migrate or rebuild my existing WordPress site?

Yes. We move your content, map each old URL to a redirect, and protect the rankings you hold. A migration adds one to two weeks inside the build schedule, and your current site stays live until the switch.

Do you support WordPress sites after launch?

We run care plans covering core and plugin updates, daily backups, uptime checks, and security patching. Updates run on staging before they touch the live site, and you get told in plain English what changed and why.

Your WordPress build ships with a number attached.

Tell us what the site has to do. We scope it, write the theme from an empty file, and set the target it answers to.

And if the site has not returned what it cost inside its first year, the re-design and the rebuild are free.
